Nova Plasterboard Systems Awarded NHBC Grade 6 at Weston Mead Grange, Aylesbury

Nova Plasterboard Systems has achieved top NHBC Grade 6 ratings for our internal drylining, partitioning, and external rendering packages at Weston Mead Grange in Aylesbury, delivered in partnership with Bloor Homes South Midlands.

Under the NHBC Construction Quality Review standards, a Grade 6 is the highest possible rating, awarded only when work is assessed as outstanding and incapable of being improved upon.

Exemplary Standards Across Internal and External Packages

The detailed inspection assessed multiple stages of construction across the development, confirming complete compliance and superior workmanship across all of Nova’s contracted trades:

  • Plaster and Drylining (Grade 6): Ceiling board joints were neatly staggered, boards were undamaged and dry, and scrim tape was applied across all joints with no visible tapes beneath the jointing compound. Wall boards achieved correct fixings at maximum 300mm centres, board ends and ceiling perimeters were secured at 150mm centres, and external corner fixings were placed at 200mm centres. Specified moisture-resistant and acoustic plasterboards were installed accurately to design.
  • Non-Loadbearing Partitions (Grade 6): Studwork partitions were inspected as plumb and square, with wet room timber and metal studwork spaced at 400mm centres. Damp-proof coursing (DPC) was correctly installed beneath ground-floor studwork and between studs and masonry blockwork, complete with required plywood pattresses and additional noggins to support ceiling boards.
  • External Superstructure Render (Grade 6): Application of Weber roughcast render achieved an outstanding, uniform texture and consistent colour across elevations, with square openings and thorough protection of adjacent masonry features.

Quality Assurance and Plot-by-Plot Auditing

A key element highlighted in the NHBC findings was the active use of verified quality control documentation.

Nova Plasterboard Systems enforces a plot-by-plot quality assurance process on every site. By documenting each phase with photographic evidence, completing scheduled checklists, and addressing snagging items during installation rather than after handover, our site supervisors ensure consistent build quality across high-volume residential developments.

Thank you to Bloor Homes South Midlands for their ongoing collaboration at Weston Mead Grange, and congratulations to our site teams and skilled operatives for setting the benchmark for drylining and rendering in the region.
